Spanish para triathlete Lionel Morales Gonzalez asked his girlfriend Jes to marry him at the Paris Paralympics in a video shared Thursday. (Watch it below.)

As a crowd gathered at the Paralympic Village, he kneeled, opened the ring box and got a yes, prompting global congratulations when the Games shared his moment on social media.

But we and a few others have questions: Were the people who watched the engagement throwing condoms at the couple? Sure looks like it. Is that a thing? (Condoms are provided to athletes in the village.)

It’s certainly more functional than the rice thrown at weddings, we’ll give them that.
